Mateo was born on June 6th, 2016 and made the voyage to Panther Ridge when he was a couple months old to be a part of our family forever. As an adult, he has the strongest bite force in the cat family, but he mostly uses it to snack on beef and carry his toys around his habitat. He was hand raised with our resident cougar, Meeka, until they both hit sexual maturity when Mateo was introduced to our other jaguar, Onyx. Together, Mateo and Onyx love to chase each other around their pool and take a nap in their high hammock.
