Karl, our male caracal, joined the Panther Ridge family in August of 2020. He is a unique caracal who loves to interact with the keepers he trusts and has bonded with. Karl shows his affection to the keepers who work with him by giving lots of head-butts and asking to be stroked.
Kiki came to us from another facility to be a companion for Karl. While her companion, Karl, loves attention from anyone willing to give it, Kiki, on the other hand, enjoys affection from afar. She prefers her personal space, which we happily and respectfully give to her.
Karl and Kiki enjoy lounging around all day on their hammocks or decks, but when a tour passes by, you can be sure that Karl will run up to greet guests! He loves to show off his jumping skills for tours by jumping midair to grab a tour treat. Caracals are known for having impressive jumping skills, capable of reaching 10-14 feet in the air. Their incredible jumping ability aids them in swatting birds out of mid flight!
